Choose Your Challenge: Distances Offered

Crystal Springs offers three distances, each crafted to push your limits and enhance your trail running skills:

  • Half: This 12.8-mile run includes a gain of 2,008 feet. It is perfect for those ready for a wooden trail adventure without taking up a full day.

  • Full: For committed runners, the full marathon stretches out to 25.6 miles, with a climb of 4,016 feet. This distance suits those who have trained and are eager to tackle a substantial trail challenge.

  • Ultra : The ultra distance tests the hardcore trail enthusiasts with a demanding yet rewarding challenge of 38.4 miles and an elevation gain of 6,024 feet. It is designed for those looking to truly push their boundaries.

Each distance is set on a loop course, allowing runners to become familiar with the terrain, making the race feel more manageable. This structure aids in navigation and enables runners to mentally prepare as they strive for their goals.

Training for Your Distance

Preparation is vital as you prepare to conquer a new challenge. Here are some practical tips for effective training:

Build a Solid Base

Regardless of whether you're aiming for the half, full, or ultra, building a consistent training base is essential. Gradually increase your weekly mileage and diversify your trail-running experience to mimic race conditions.

Include Elevation Training

With challenging elevation gains in every distance, hill workouts must be integrated into your training. Identify nearby trails or hills to implement interval sprints, uphill runs, and downhill runs to enhance strength and endurance.

Nutrition and Hydration

Proper nutrition and hydration are game changers for your performance. As your training intensifies, follow these crucial guidelines:

Fuel Before and During Your Race
